The event this weekend will be taking place in Rosetown

Young 4-H members from across the region will take the stage at the annual Regional 4-H Public Speaking event, set for Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the Rosetown United Church. Hosted by the District #40 4-H Council, the event will see participants from various age groups present speeches on a range of topics.

The competition is divided into four age categories: Cloverbud (ages 6-8, 1-3 minutes), Junior (ages 9-12, 2-4 minutes), Intermediate (ages 13-15, 3-5 minutes), and Senior (ages 16-21, 4-8 minutes). Contestants are allowed a 30-second leeway over or under the defined time limit, and all speeches must be self-authored.

A distinguished panel of volunteer judges, including Erica Yaskowich, Julia Ramos-Strankman, Amaris Manning, Ryan Moellenbeck, Cindy McKillop, Velma Irvine, Doreen Pretorius, and Jill Hamilton, will evaluate the speeches based on content, delivery, and overall impact.

The Regional 4-H Public Speaking event continues to highlight the dedication and talent of young 4-H members, providing them with an invaluable opportunity to develop their communication skills and confidence. The competition also serves as a stepping stone for participants advancing to provincial-level public speaking contests.

Spectators are encouraged to attend and support the young speakers as they showcase their skills. The event is expected to bring together families, friends, and community members for an inspiring afternoon of public speaking excellence.
