A Winnipeg man is facing impaired driving charges after RCMP responded to reports of an erratic driver on Highway 1 near Portage la Prairie last week.
On March 26th, Portage la Prairie RCMP were sent out to a call of an erratic driver on Highway #1, west of Portage la Prairie.
Police were able to locate the suspect vehicle near Sydney and pulled over the vehicle on the side of the road.
The 49-year-old driver, a man from Winnipeg, displayed signs that he was intoxicated.
The officer asked the driver to provide a breath sample on a Roadside Screening Device. The test resulted in a fail.
The driver was placed under arrest and taken to the Portage la Prairie RCMP detachment to have samples of his breath analysed.
The results were double the legal limit.
The driver has lost his licence, the vehicle he was driving was towed and impounded and he will need to appear in court facing charges of:
- Operation of a Vehicle While Over 80mg%
- Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
