The Strathmore Venom Lacrosse Club has moved its practices back to town.

The team has been running a winter camp in Calgary since the start of the year. After crews cleared the ice from the Strathmore Family Centre's Blue Arena, the Venom returned home.

"It's really nice because we have a draw zone all the way out to Siksika, Standard, Hussar, Rockyford, so it's a bit of a jaunt in," said head coach Travis Gauthier.

With the regular season beginning on Apr. 14, the team will be training hard in anticipation of its first game.

"The team's filled up really nice. We basically have two teams from every age group from U7 up to U15," added Gauthier. "In U17 we have one very large roster, and our junior program is very healthy as well."

The coach said he's looking forward to the Venom's U15 and U17 home tournament, which will take place in Strathmore in late May.

"We've got our big home tournament, so there will be a bunch of teams, a bunch of games, and it's a pretty fun time."

The Venom held several Try It Sessions earlier this year.
