Calgary police are investigating after a woman was struck and killed in her vehicle on Stoney Trail in Calgary.
On Tuesday night the 57-year-old woman died following a collision in the southbound lanes of Stoney Trail N.W. by the bridge deck of Nose Drive Drive.
Police believe a Toyota Corolla was hit by an unknown vehicle, which officers say is likely a semi-truck and trailer combination.
The vehicle did not remain at the scene.
A maintenance truck was the first to arrive and provided medical aid to the woman.
Moments after, a black RAM truck hit a post and cable barrier, which then hit the woman. The RAM then collided into the maintenance truck.
The woman was taken to hospital, but later died from her injuries.
"The other drivers and passengers were not injured in this collision," police said in a release.
"There is no evidence at this time to indicate if speed, alcohol or drugs were a factor in this collision."
Residents in Chestermere and Strathmore are encouraged to call Calgary police at 403-266-1234 if they have dashcam footage of the incident or may have witnessed the collision.
