Weyburn Tourism has taken a lot of strides to ensure our city is a great place for visitors and for those who make their residence here.

According to Executive Director Monica Osborn, the second-place ranking on the World Atlas blog of the '9 Most Neighbourly Towns in the Prairies' is something to celebrate.

"When someone recognizes your community for really anything that's positive, it's always a great perspective, getting that from outside individuals, so being named [one of] nine most neighbourly towns in the prairies, and having Weyburn as one of those nine, it's always a great benefit to our community," she said.

"It's always great to have that aspect and be able to be acknowledged by people that have obviously traveled the world, and if we can get on that, that's always a great feat for us."

Osborn said Weyburn has that small-town feel, but it also has all the amenities required for people to do their everyday business.

"When people find a community that they really can partner with and just feel comfortable, and just feel safe, and we do take pride in the safety in our community, as well as just what we have for quality of life here. There's lots of things to do for families, and you can actually do anything because we do have affordable living in our community as well too."

Another particularly neighbourly element to Weyburn's reputation is a point of pride for most: community involvement.

"People are always so willing to either volunteer their time or do monetary donations or other donations in general," she noted. "We have lots of great programs and services that are available in our community. And we want to make sure that our visitors, when they come here, they're welcomed, and we hope they will come back and bring friends along with them the next time they come back."

Osborn added, "It's great to be acknowledged for being a neighbourly town and we need to take pride in that, that other people from outside of our community are providing that perspective to our own community members."
