Team Canada ground out an 8-3 win over Czechia last night at the BKT World Men’s Curling Championship at the Temple Gardens Centre.

Yesterday's victory keeps Canada in the top spot in the standings at 7-1., Canada is back in action this morning at 9 a.m. when they face 6-2 China.

The Medicine Hat Tigers came from behind and beat the Broncos in Swift Current 4-3 in overtime last night. The Tigers now have a 3-games-to-1 lead in that best-of-7 first-round WHL playoff series.

The Calgary Hitmen beat Saskatoon Blades 6-2, completing a four-game sweep. Meanwhile, the Prince Albert Raiders lost 3-2 to Edmonton giving the Oil Kings a 3-1 series lead, and the Brandon Wheat Kings stayed alive with a 6-4 win over Lethbridge. The Hurricanes now lead 3-1 in their series.

In the NHL, Alexander Ovechkin is a hat trick away from breaking Wayne Gretzky's all-time goals record. The Great 8 scored for a third straight game last night. However, his Washington Capitals lost 5-1 to Carolina. Elsewhere, the Maple Leafs beat Florida 3-2, and Seattle shut out Vancouver 5-0.

Over the Major League Baseball, the Toronto Blue Jays improved to 5 and 2 in the season with a 4-2 win over the Washington Nationals.
