The Lethbridge Police recently charged a retired physiotherapist in connection to the sexual assault of an underage patient.

They've charged 61-year-old Kin Wai Godfrey Kwan of Lethbridge with two counts each of sexual assault of a person under 16 and Sexual Interference.

In late 2024, the Lethbridge Police Service responded to a report of a historic sexual assault that took place during physiotherapy treatment sessions at the Chinook Regional Hospital.

As a result of an investigation, it was determined the victim, who was 12 years old at the time of the incident, was sexually assaulted on two separate occasions between November 2021 and January 2022.

The victim was undergoing physical therapy at the time of the assault.

Kwan is retired and no longer employed by AHS.

When Kwan attended the police station, he was arrested without incident.

He has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on April 16.

The Lethbridge Police have released a photo of Kwan because they believe there may be additional victims, who are encouraged to come forward.

Anyone who believes they may have been a victim of Kwan's is encouraged to call the Lethbridge Police at 403-328-4444 and reference file 24018750, as the investigation is still ongoing.
