Canalta Hotels has taken over the Ramada Inn in High River.
As part of the company's continued growth, they have expanded into High River with their upgrading of the Ramada Inn, and they also opened up a new location in Cochrane this week.
They are currently in the process of changing all the signage and working on some exciting new changes in High River.

Vice President Brooke Christianson is thrilled with the changes coming.
"We're putting in an outdoor barbecue area for guests, which will be great for those who are staying for a longer period of time. They'll be able to cook their own food and enjoy the outdoors. We're going to be putting in a games room area inside the hotel, which is a great area for families to sit around and enjoy some board games or video games. And then we're actually talking about putting in a mini-stick room for those hockey teams that visit us. These are all amenities the Canalta brand has within it as part of our hallmark. Those are some of the exciting new things and then eventually we'll be doing renovations on the rest of the hotel. So, that's what's coming."
They also have a new program called the Million Trees Movement under their customer Rewards plan.
This program will see the company plant one million trees by the end of 2027.
"Yes, we're going to plant a million trees, which is a pretty big deal. It's good to do as a company, and something we hope our customers are going to appreciate that we offer. So, we're pretty excited about that."
The program will offer guests the chance to support a sustainable initiative that will see jack pines, white spruce and black spruce on a large plot of land in Smeaton in northern Saskatchewan. Canalta has partnered with Wearth, an organization that plants trees on conserved land in Canada.
The location in High River has over 80 rooms and suites, including their signature amenities such as a heated indoor pool, hot tub, waterslide and free high-speed Wi-Fi, along with a complimentary deluxe breakfast.
Canalta Hotels was started by Cam and Sharlene Christianson, parents of Brooke and brother Blair, as a motor inn in Stettler back in the 1970s with their head office now based in Drumheller. They now have more than 40 properties across Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
