It’s another award for Nash Wassing.
The Grand Forks Border Bruins forward was named this week’s Young Guns selection in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL).
The Strathmore native scored five goals and added two assists in two games.
He recorded a hat trick in Game 1 of the Border Bruins' playoff series against the Kimberley Dynamiters.
Wassing also scored two goals and added an assist in Game 2.
“I was finding open ice really well, and my teammates were able to make great plays to find me, and thankfully I was able to put the puck in the net,” said Wassing.
“I’ve felt great throughout the first two games of the series. They’ve been really fast-paced and tough games, but I definitely have a ton of confidence right now, so hopefully, I can keep that up for the rest of the playoffs.”
So far, Wassing has collected nine goals and 15 points in 12 KIJHL Teck Cup playoff games.
“During the regular season, the 6-foot-4, 200-pound forward recorded 15 goals and 30 points in 40 games — his first season in the KIJHL,” added the KIJHL.
The Border Bruins play the Dynamiters Friday night at 6 p.m.
