The Airdrie Public Library has started borrowing Genesis Place Passes for residents.
According to the library, the recreation pass lending library project is supported by Healthier Together Airdrie, a partnership between Alberta Health Services, the City of Airdrie, and the community, to support health and well-being.
The passes the library is lending out according to them include:
- Child Passes (2)
- 6 – 12 years
- Youth Passes (2)
- 13 – 17 years
- Adult Passes (2)
- 18 – 64 years
- Family Passes (2)
- Family (two adults) pass
- Family passes include all immediate children under 18 living in the same household. Students between 18 and 25 can be added to the family pass with a valid student ID.
- Senior Passes (2)
- 65 – 79 years (80+ years is already free!)
Robin Locke, a collections librarian with the APL, explained the idea was to make recreation and healthier living in Airdrie more accessible.
"We've got a fair bit of interest in those family passes and the adult passes so far.
All you need to borrow the passes is a free Airdrie Public Library card. You can hold the passes for two weeks at a time.
The APL started lending out the passes on March 31st.
"We're just glad we were able to be the venue in which people can borrow them."
Locke concluded by thanking Heathier Tigether Airdrie for making this possible for Airdronians in need.
