Chestermere is planning to celebrate parents who welcomed a child in 2024.

"Any families located within Chestermere are welcome to apply. The City of Chestermere, through the Parks Department, subsidizes the cost of the trees, making this an excellent and affordable opportunity for families to participate," the city said in a release.

The birth forest planting event will take place on May 8 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Westmere Environmental Reserve.

Application can be submitted here until April 30.
