A 24-year-old man was arrested Friday after a carjacking in the Brooklands neighborhood.
Officers were called to the 100 block of Keewatin Street just after 7 p.m. yesterday, where they located a 25-year-old man who had been assaulted and robbed of his 2019 Honda Civic.
The suspect fled in the stolen vehicle.
A short time later, police received reports of a vehicle speeding and driving erratically in the West End.
It collided with a vehicle near St. Matthews Avenue and Ashburn Street. The suspect fled on foot, and with assistance from members of the K9 Unit, officers tracked the suspect to the 1300 block of St. Matthews Avenue, where he was placed under arrest.
The suspect was transported to hospital in stable condition. The occupants of the struck vehicle were also taken to hospital for medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries.
The victims and the suspect were previously unknown to one another.
A 24-year-old male of Winnipeg faces a long list of charges, including robbery and dangerous operation of a conveyance.
He was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
