At the latest Rocky View Schools (RVS) Board of trustee meeting, it was shared that on March 25, RVS received its funding profile from the government.
The funding profile outlines the various grants and projected operational funding RVS is expected to receive for the 2025/26 school year.
"This information is used by the administration and the Board to draft, finalize and ultimately approve the 2025/26 divisional budget for submission to the government by the end of May."
RVS does appreciate the government’s continued investment in Kindergarten to Grade 12 education to address some of the pressures being felt across the system.
"However, the increases do not go far enough to address the challenges experienced in schools."
RVS is expecting a 2.5 per cent increase in overall funding from the government, primarily due to enrolment growth and modest increases to select grants.
"With rising inflation and increasing core costs of school division operations, budget and service pressures will continue to be felt across RVS for this coming year."
According to RVS, the Board is committed to maximizing every dollar of limited resources provided to best serve the learning and working needs of students and staff.
Last month, the trustees approved the 3-Year Capital Plan priority list.
The top seven priorities, according to Rocky View Schools, include:
- Cochrane - 9-12 school in the community of Horse Creek.
- Cochrane - K-8 school in the community of Heartland.
- Airdrie - 7-9 school in the community of Cobblestone Creek.
- Chestermere - K-9 school in the community of Clearwater Park.
- Crossfield - K-8 school in the community of Vista Crossing.
- Airdrie - K-9 school in the community of Wildflower or Vantage Rise.
- Springbank Middle - An addition to the school.
