Alberta Health Services has lifted a boil water order for the Village of Beiseker, saying tap water is once again safe to drink.

The advisory, issued April 2 following a scheduled village-wide water shutoff, officially ended Sunday, according to a notice from the Village of Beiseker. AHS confirmed the lifting of the order on Monday.

Residents and businesses may resume normal water use but are advised to flush plumbing systems before initial use.

AHS recommends the following steps:

  • Turn on all taps and flush water lines for at least five minutes, or 10 minutes in apartment buildings.

  • Drain and refill hot water tanks set below 45 C.

  • Run water softeners through a regeneration cycle.

  • Flush, clean and sanitize water filters, cisterns, and fridge dispensers according to manufacturer instructions.

The boil water advisory was implemented after Beiseker shut off its municipal water supply on April 2 for scheduled work.

During the advisory, residents were told not to drink tap water, use it for food preparation or give it to pets. Filtered water, ice, and drinks made with tap water were also considered unsafe.

AHS recommends sanitizing any dishes or food-contact surfaces used during the advisory with a diluted bleach solution.

Residents with health concerns can contact Health Link at 811, which is available 24 hours a day.
