The Winkler Flyers struggled to find the back of the net for a second consecutive game as they lost game two of their semi-finals series 3-1 on Sunday.

By the numbers, the first period was more of a tight checking, if not cautious approach by both teams.

The Northern Manitoba Blizzard displayed a patient game while the Flyers didn't make any mistakes either, bring a 0-0 draw through the first twenty minutes.

As the second period went along, the Blizzard waited for their opportunity to strike and they did while on a power play, grabbing a 1-0 lead with under half the period played.

Just four minutes later, they'd double that lead and bring the score to 2-0.

The Flyers turned things up in the third, searching for something to kick start some positive momentum, but the time after time, the Blizzard kept things calm and never let the Winkler side get rolling.

Brody Beauchemin would get the Flyers on the board as the veteran scored his third of the postseason with the lone assist going to Brady Craik.

Hopes of a comeback were extinguished as the Blizzard put the game away with under a minute to go, claiming a 3-1 victory on the road, moving them up in the series 2-0.

Liam Ernst got the start and kept his team in the battle, finishing the game with 14 saves.

Winkler's power play finished 0-3 while the penalty kill was 3-4.

Games three and four will be in northern Manitoba, with game three on Wednesday and game four the next night.
