A 35-year-old man is in custody after numerous batteries were stolen from a property in the RM of West St Paul.

RCMP say the batteries, which are used on large roadway notification signs, were found at a home in Winnipeg earlier this week.

An investigation led officers to a home on Lincoln Avenue in Winnipeg, where they found 26 deep-cycle batteries, along with 11 commercial solar panels worth an estimated $25,000.

He is facing charges of possession of property obtained by crime and trafficking in property obtained by crime.

He is scheduled to be in court on May 23 in Selkirk.

Selkirk RCMP continue to investigate.
