Street Party Proceeds to Support United Way and Revitalize Downtown: Premier

Media Release - April 8, 2025

The Winnipeg Jets Whiteout Street Party will return to downtown Winnipeg this spring, with the Manitoba government providing funding to help fans celebrate, Premier Wab Kinew and Sport, Culture, Heritage and Tourism Minister Nellie Kennedy announced today.

“Our government is excited to help bring the Jets whiteout parties to downtown Winnipeg for what we hope is a lengthy playoff run,” said Kinew. “Not only do whiteout parties benefit downtown businesses and raise money for housing and mental health supports – they’re a fantastic way to come together as a community. Whiteout parties are a great, affordable way to experience the atmosphere of playoff hockey.”

The Manitoba government will contribute up to $300,000 to ensure fans can gather for unforgettable game-day experiences, noted the premier. The festivities will take place before and during every Jets home playoff game, transforming Winnipeg’s downtown into a sea of white.

“Winnipeg has the best fans in the NHL and we can’t wait to see downtown buzzing with energy,” said Kennedy. “By partnering with True North Sports + Entertainment, we’re helping to create safe events downtown that allow neighbours to connect, support local business and create lasting memories as we support our Winnipeg Jets.”

"True North is grateful to the Province of Manitoba for its ongoing support of the Winnipeg whiteout street parties, the Winnipeg Jets and our fans,” said Kevin Donnelly, senior vice-president, venues and entertainment, True North Sports + Entertainment. “Successful teams are made up of multiple players and we are glad to have Manitoba on our squad.”

The parties will be held on Donald Street between Portage Avenue and Graham Avenue (Honorary Dale Hawerchuk Way), outside Canada Life Centre. Tickets are priced at $10, with 50 per cent of proceeds going to the United Way to support initiatives tackling chronic homelessness and expanding mental health and addictions resources.
