Man from neighbouring county wins $100,000 on lotto ticket

A man from Rolling Hills, Alta., is now $100,000 richer.

Derek Virostek, who lives in the County of Newell, bought a Lotto 6/49 and Extra ticket on the Lotto Spot app.

“I usually play Lotto Max,” Virostek said in a release from Lotto Spot. "But I decided to give Lotto 6/49 a try this time around.”

Virostek said he checked his ticket while relaxing on the couch.

He plans to invest his winnings and save the rest for his kids.

"I had to check it over and over – I’m still in shock," Virostek said.

He won by matching the last six digits of the March 5 Extra selection: 2280383.
