Tuesday marks 108 years since Canadian soldiers took Vimy Ridge.

"Over 3,500 members of the Canadian Corps gave their lives and close to 7,000 were wounded in this offensive," said the Royal Canadian Legion on its website.

"Canadian soldiers stormed Vimy Ridge on April 9, 1917, and were eventually successful in gaining control over the land which had been under German occupation."

The Fire Hall also has its flags at half-mast.
