The Vulcan County Health and Wellness Foundation recently held a fundraiser to help upgrade palliative care in Vulcan County.
They held the fundraiser last Saturday (April 5) to raise funds for upgrades to Vulcan County Community Health Centre's palliative care.
Those planned upgrades include adding some tracks from the bed to the bathroom.
Because of the cost, the Vulcan County Health and Wellness Foundation stepped up to help fundraise the money for the upgrades.
"We held a gala event, so a prime rib dinner and a silent auction, live auction, this past Saturday," explained the Vulcan County Health and Wellness Foundation Executive Administrator, Gail Wark. "We sold 186 tickets, and I think we, probably, had 170 people in attendance. Which was great."
Wark says the live and silent auctions brought in $30,696 that evening.
The fundraiser was held at the Vulcan Cultural Recreation Center, and included live music and catering provided by Roadside Grill in Bassano, with several other local companies pitching in as well.
"Our committee worked hard to get this done, and we couldn't be happier to do it and support our staff and our leadership here at the site. Of course, we want to thank everybody who contributed to the live and silent auction items as supporters of that. And all the bidders and buyers and all the attendees that showed up, it was a wonderful evening. All for a good cause."
While they already raised over $30,000 for the Community Health Centre, the Wellness Foundation is continuing to help fundraise for palliative care upgrades and is hosting a golf tournament this summer.
Their Charity Golf Classic Tournament will be happening on June 20 at the Vulcan Golf and Country Club, and there will be a 24-hour golf challenge where between 8 and 12 golfers will raise money as part of the challenge.
It costs $500 for a team of four to register.
The money from this year's challenge will go towards the Health Centre's palliative care upgrades.
"It's going to take them a bit of money to do."
