Emergency crews were on the scene of an accident that happened on the Trans-Canada Highway west of Portage la Prairie just after sunrise.

The accident is affecting traffic in the eastbound lanes near Road 43W between the Petro Canada station at the junction of 1 and 16 and Simplot.

Captain Todd McKinnon says there were no fatalities, and no official statement about injuries.

"The call came in at 6:55 a.m. It was a 2-vehicle collision with possible injuries and diesel fuel leaking in the ditch. We had our rescue on scene. EMS and RCMP were on scene, as well. It looks like we were on scene for approximately an hour, and Manitoba Environment was involved as well for the fuel spill."

He notes the report says it took place at Highway 1 and 43W on the westbound lane.
