The oldest group of West Central Wheat Kings players had their awards night recently.
The team MVP Chase Weinkauf led the team in scoring as a defenseman with 51 points (20 goals, 31 assists) in 32 games played. Forward Tyce Perkins also finished over a point per game with 47 points (23 goals and 24 assists) in 33 games, and then Cohen Hayes' 33 points in 33 games rounded out teams top three leading scorers.
Playing in the Centre Four Divison, the U18 Wheat Kings finished the regular season with a 16-15-2-0 record to earn themselves the eighth and final playoff spot. Taking on the first seed Saskatoon Sabercats, the Wheat Kings lost 4-1 in Game 1 on the road, and then 8-3 as the series went to Unity.
