A major spring cleanup is officially underway in Winnipeg.

Starting Sunday, crews will begin freshening up the city working street by street cleaning up roadways, bridges, sidewalks, pathways, alleys, boulevards and litter and debris in public parks.

The cleanup is expected to take six weeks to complete, with active transportation routes being the first to be cleaned.

The operation will take 300 pieces of equipment to complete and around 500 workers.

During this time, Winnipeggers are reminded to know their zone and check regularly for no-parking signs.

The annual yard waste program will follow the week of April 28.
