Weyburn is seeing signs of renewed growth in residential construction, according to early 2025 data from City Hall.

Through the first three months of the year, the city has received one official application for a new home, with additional applications expected to be submitted in April. Several applications from late 2024 also remain active, pointing to sustained interest in development.

One key factor in promoting new residential development is the Weyburn Builds Incentive Program. So far in 2025, three applications have been approved under the program. That follows 11 approved applications in all of 2024. City officials say each new build is a vote of confidence in Weyburn’s future, and the continued activity shows momentum behind community growth.

The latest data from the Saskatchewan Realtors’ Association, released earlier this month, showed the inventory for houses in Weyburn is low. Active listings are down by 39 per cent from March 2024, and new listings are down by 25 per cent.

“We’re at the point now where the shortage is pushing that need for new builds,” Weyburn realtor Chad Bailey said at the time.
