On April 7, 2025, Grande Prairie RCMP received a complaint of a suspicious person and vehicle. Upon approach by RCMP members, the vehicle fled the scene at a high rate of speed. Members noted vehicle information for further investigation. On April 10, 2025, the vehicle was seen by a Grande Prairie RCMP Police Dog Services member, who advised the Grande Prairie RCMP CRU (Crime Reduction Unit). Grande Prairie RCMP CRU were able to locate the vehicle and conduct a traffic stop, which led to the arrests of the two individuals found within. A search of the vehicle incidental to arrest revealed 125 grams of methamphetamines, 30 grams of fentanyl and over $2000 in cash.

As a result of the investigation, the following two individuals were arrested:

  • Timothy Kelly (45), a resident of Grande Prairie, was charged with:
    • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x2);
    • Possession of proceeds of crime;
    • Possession of weapon while prohibited (x4);
    • Obstruct police officer;
    • Dangerous driving;
    • Failure to comply with release order (x2); and
    • Driving while unauthorized.
  • Jasmine Potter (30), a resident of Grande Prairie, was charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of proceeds of crime.

Kelly and Potter were brought before a justice of the peace. Potter was released on conditions while Kelly was remanded into custody. They are to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie on April 14, 2025.
