On March 20, 2025, Sean Mason contacted police to report a stolen 2024 White Chevrolet Tahoe. Grande Prairie RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) began an investigation and discovered that the VIN provided by Mason was fraudulent. Further investigation revealed the same was true for a second vehicle owned by Mason. A search warrant was obtained and, on March 26, 2025, was executed at his residence, where a second person, Jamie Foster, was found to be involved and arrested.
As a result of the search warrant, 6 vehicles that were confirmed stolen and/or fraudulent, 5 other vehicles that are still under investigation and 5 firearms, one of which was reported stolen, were seized. The estimated value of the vehicles is over $500,000.
As a result of the investigation, the following two people were charged:
- Sean Mason (43), a resident of Sexsmith, Alta., for whom an arrest warrant has been issued in relation to this file, was charged with:
- Public mischief;
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 (x6);
- Breach of firearms prohibition (x6);
- Other firearms-related offences (x13);
- Tampering with a Vehicle Identification Number (x4);
- Uttering a forged document (x2); and
- Possession of a forged document (x2).
- Jamie Foster (29), a resident of Sexsmith, was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 (x6);
- Possession of firearm while unauthorized (x5);
- Other firearms-related offences (x7);
- Tampering with a Vehicle Identification Number (x4); and
- Possession of a forged document (x2).
Foster was brought before a justice of the peace where she was initially remanded into custody, to later be released on conditions. She is to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie on April 23, 2025.
Sean Mason is still at large on warrants and Grande Prairie RCMP CRU is asking for public assistance in locating the Mason.
