Southeast Advocates is inviting the public to a job fair on Wednesday aimed at connecting jobseekers with local employers and promoting opportunities in the community.

The event will take place April 16 at Wylie Mitchell Hall, running from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Held in partnership with the Estevan Chamber of Commerce and funded by CECS — a francophone organization based in Saskatoon — the fair is designed to showcase career options in Estevan and other rural areas of Saskatchewan.

“They are helping us promote opportunities in rural Saskatchewan, like Estevan,” said Ohjay Javier, a representative with Southeast Advocates. “We also partnered with the Estevan Chamber of Commerce to spread the word and bring together employers who are looking to hire. So we’re promoting the community, and at the same time, highlighting the opportunities available here.”

Several employers are confirmed to attend, including Westmoreland Mining, Redhead Equipment, Apex Distribution, Lowenberg Projects, St. Joseph’s Hospital, the Saskatchewan Health Authority, and the City of Estevan.

The job fair is open to all, with no registration required.

“Everyone is welcome. There’s no need to register — although we may have people sign in at the door,” Javier said. “It’s completely free to attend. Whether you’re looking to start a new career, make a change, or are currently unemployed, this is a great chance to explore what’s out there.”

Southeast Advocates provides a range of services to assist newcomers and job seekers in the region.

“At SE Advocates, we offer programs focused on employment and settlement,” Javier said. “We also support families with school-related needs. If someone is moving to Estevan with children, we can help with school registration and getting them involved in activities.”
