A junior hockey star from West Central is continuing to gain attention from pro scouts.

Macklin native Cole Reschny was ranked the #25 skater in North America as NHL Central Scouting unveiled their final list of rankings prior to the 2025 NHL Draft on Tuesday.

The Royals have to be happy with their third overall selection of the 2022 WHL Draft. The team selected Reschny in hopes of the slick skilled forward becoming a top six staple, and he's done just that in the leadup to his NHL draft year with 170 points in 138 career games (regular season and playoffs) with the Royals.

This past season alone Reschny had 92 points (26 goals and 66 assists) in 62 games, setting the Royals franchise record for single season assists in the process. Reschny has been fantastic in the playoffs with 16 points (6 goals, 10 assists) in only 7 games as the Royals get set for Game 3 of their second round series against Spokane on Wednesday night.

Reschny is tied with Medicine Hat's Oasiz Wiesblatt for fifth in playoff scoring overall, his Tigers teammate Gavin McKenna leading the way (to no one's surprise) with 19 points in 7 games.

The 2025 NHL Entry Draft is set for June 27-29 in Los Angeles.
