With spring weather coming to Weyburn this weekend with highs in the mid-teens, the Weyburn Golf Club is excited to announce they are opening their 18-hole golf course for the 2025 golfing season. Volunteers worked earlier this week to remove the tarps and get the greens set for golf, and Kyrstle Fedoretz, general manager at the Weyburn Golf Club, is grateful for the great weather and even better helpers.
“We had a wonderful group of volunteers come and remove the tarps on Tuesday. The greens underneath are looking wonderful and with that we are officially announcing our opening on Saturday, April 19th. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., it will be members only and after that, the public will be able to book.”
There’s been all kinds of movement at the course already, with crews working hard to get the course in good condition, to people looking to hone their skills on the driving range before playing the 6515 yards of the full 18-hole course. “If somebody just wants to practice up, our range is open between noon and 6:00 daily.” Fedoretz says. The course has done lots of work to try and make it the best possible, including an ongoing fundraiser for an irrigation system on the back-nine.
“We are still fundraising for it,” Fedoretz says, “It is a very large project, so we do anticipate it taking a little while to achieve that funding goal. We are hoping that Mother Nature will be kind to us this year. What we're seeing so far is that it's starting to green up. So, it's getting very exciting for us.”
