A routine stop at a business led to an arrest for the Portage la Prairie RCMP after an officer recognized a woman in breach of her court-ordered curfew.
Around 12:30 a.m. on April 7th, an officer pulled into a business on Saskatchewan Ave E and identified Denica Pearson, a familiar face to law enforcement. Pearson was previously released under strict conditions, including a curfew she was violating at the time.
Pearson was arrested for failing to comply with her release conditions and subsequently searched. Officers found an edged weapon and a quantity of a substance suspected to be cocaine.
Pearson is now facing the following charges:
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine
- Failing to Comply with a Release Order x 3.
She remains in custody.
