After a long winter, Assiniboine Park's Nature Playground has officially opened for the season.
Last year, the popular playground shut down for a couple of months while it underwent some much-needed updates and repairs.
Some of the work that was completed during the temporary closure included a new wheelchair-accessible swing, re-surfacing of the rubberized pathways and play features, a new wheelchair-accessible willow tree tunnel near the existing picnic shelter, spring planting and groundskeeping, as well as painting and repairs to some of the other playground features, infrastructure and amenities.
"While the playground is open, the washroom facilities will remain closed for a few more weeks," said Assiniboine Park & Zoo in a post on Facebook. "Public washrooms are available at The Pavilion, Qualico Family Centre, and Riley Family Duck Pond shelter."
The Nature Playground is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
