Hype for Hospice will return to Strathmore on May 4.
The event will also feature a firetruck pull.
Ally Brigley, a private singing and music teacher, is helping kids prepare to perform at the event.
"I have a few students, and some piano students as well. They are going to be singing and playing at Hype for Hospice. There's a beautiful outdoor stage, so I'm going to bring a portable keyboard, and they've been practicing for a couple of months."
The students will perform a variety of songs throughout the day.
"My number one, he is doing a song called Around the Totem Pole, which is just a good community-building fun song, super short, super sweet. He's playing it on the piano, and then I have a couple of singers that are going to do some more heartfelt songs," explained Brigley.
Some of her students have never performed before, but Brigley sees this event as an opportunity to help them build confidence.
"We're there to have fun, and it's all like your friends, family, peers. It's nothing high pressure."
Dr. Joni Mcneely, chair of the Wheatland & Area Hospice Society, explained why this year’s event is extra special.
"It's our 10th anniversary of our society, so it's a little bit more of a celebration. We'll have our hikers walking around Kinsman Park four times, and then an opportunity to win a prize afterwards."
The event will include face painting, singing, and a chance to meet Jessica Sevick, an Olympic Medal winner from Paris.
Mcneely told StrathmoreNow that she got involved in hospice work because of her mother.
"My mother had cancer and would have benefited greatly from hospice in our community, but more than that, it's all about us reaching in and helping out."
The event kicks off at 11 a.m. at Kinsmen Park.
