Advance voter turnout across Canada rose significantly ahead of the country's 45th general election, with Alberta seeing one of the strongest increases nationally.

According to preliminary estimates released by Elections Canada, about 7.3 million electors voted at advance polls held from April 18 to April 21, 2025. That marks a 25 per cent increase from the 5.8 million valid votes cast during advance polling in the 2021 federal election.
In Alberta specifically, 815,131 electors cast ballots during advance polls—up approximately 26 per cent from the 646,090 votes recorded in the previous election.
Alberta's advance voter turnout was the fourth-highest nationwide, following Ontario, Quebec, and British Columbia.
Across Canada, voter participation was highest on the final advance polling day, Monday, April 21, with approximately 2.1 million votes cast nationwide, compared to about 1.9 million on the corresponding day in 2021.
Ontario led all provinces with about 2.8 million advance votes cast, while Quebec had nearly 1.6 million, and British Columbia saw turnout exceed 1.1 million voters.
All provinces and territories experienced an increase in advance poll turnout compared to the previous federal election, except Yukon, where participation slightly decreased from 5,318 in 2021 to 4,748 this election.
Advance polling stations operated daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Election day is set for April 28, 2025.
