The 67th annual Little Britches Parade in downtown High River is now just a few weeks away.

The extravaganza rolls through town on Saturday, May 17.

This year's theme is a salute to educators, and the organizing committee is urging everyone to register their floats and entries sooner rather than later.

With the parade route map out now, it increases the excitement and urgency to get registered and involved in the nearly seven-decade-long tradition.

As you can see, the route starts where it always does, along 1st St. SW at 7th Ave. SE and goes through the downtown core all the way along Macleod Trail to 9th St. SW and 9th Ave. SW coming back in front of the High River Hospital and wrapping up down by the High River Public Library along 1st. St. SW.

Once again, candy bags will be handed out along the route, as no candy is allowed to be thrown from any floats.

Battle of the Bands is also back and takes place shortly after the parade in George Lane Park, where marching bands perform in front of throngs of people in the park.

The spring market, food trucks and the quiet zone are also back.

Road closures throughout all of downtown go from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., with the parade getting underway at 10:00 a.m. and lasting about an hour or so.
