One cookie at a time, our community is making a difference. From April 28 to May 4, Tim Hortons locations in Winkler and Morden will once again be serving up their beloved $2 Smile Cookies, with 100% of proceeds going directly to the Boundary Trails Health Centre Foundation (BTHC Foundation).
Last year’s campaign raised an incredible $40,000, and organizers are hopeful the community will rally even more support in 2025.
Order early, make a bigger impact
Pre-orders are not just encouraged—they’re a key ingredient to the campaign’s success. Whether it’s for your workplace, classroom, sports team, or your entire street, you can make your order today and help support local healthcare.
“Pre-orders help us organize everything more efficiently,” says Jennifer Ching-Faux, one of the campaign’s organizers. “They let the stores know what’s coming and allow our volunteers to prepare deliveries ahead of time.”

Volunteers, Cookie Monster, and community spirit
This year marks the second time the BTHC Foundation has partnered with Tim Hortons for Smile Cookie Week, and they're going bigger and bolder—including a Cookie Monster costume inspired by an idea spotted by local franchisee Jeff Derksen.
“Last year we were pretty green, but we learned a lot,” shares Shannon Samatte-Folkett, Executive Director of the BTHC Foundation. “We had an incredible turnout, and we’re excited to see how the community shows up this time around.”
Behind the scenes, nearly 50 volunteers will make the magic happen—greeting customers, decorating cookies, and delivering bulk orders all week long.
“It’s a real Smile Cookie army,” laughs Jennifer. “We’ve got volunteers from all over—fire departments, financial institutions, even the Winkler Flyers. It’s been amazing to see the response.”
Every cookie counts – and so does every dollar
Whether you buy one cookie or 1,000, you’re supporting a cause that directly benefits your friends, family, and neighbours. Even if you’re not a cookie eater, there are other ways to give.
“If cookies aren’t your thing, you can still donate at the till or online through our website,” Samatte-Folket says. “Every bit helps, and we’re thankful for every donation.”
This year’s Smile Cookie funds will support an outdoor wellness space and walking path at the Boundary Trails Health Centre—something Samatte-Folket describes as both timely and transformative.
“The hospital is landlocked, and there’s nowhere for patients or families to go for fresh air. This space will be accessible for everyone—including those in wheelchairs—and it’ll connect the facility to both Morden and Winkler and the community walking path. It’s going to be beautiful.”
Cookie goals: 25,000 and beyond?
The Foundation team has set a bold goal: 25,000 cookies decorated and sold in just seven days. We asked them to guess how many cookies will be sold next week.
“I’m aiming for 26,624,” says Ching-Faux, confidently. “It’s May Pay It Forward Month, and we’re feeling good about reaching it.”
“I’ll say 25,628,” adds Samatte-Folket with a smile.
