One suspect is in custody after two firetrucks were stolen from the firehall in Champion on Monday night.

Vulcan RCMP were already en route to a business in Champion due to an alarm going off.

The officer observed two firetrucks travelling at a high rate of speed without their emergency lights activated.

A pursuit ensued with an RCMP canine unit being called in to assist.

25-year-old Jaeden Glabb from Peace River was apprehended and is now in custody awaiting a court appearance later today, Friday, April 25, in Lethbridge.

The second suspect has been identified but remains at large as the investigation continues.

Glabb has been charged with the following:

  • Break and enter to business x2
  • Possession of property obtained by crime x2
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Flight from a Peace Officer
  • Breach Release Order x3

The Vulcan County Director of Protective Services, Doug Headrick, said they have one firetruck they are borrowing from another region until they can get both of them replaced.
