If you’re planning to have a backyard fire this weekend, there are a few fire advisories to take note of.
Due to dry weather conditions, Foothills County and Vulcan County have issued fire advisories.
Under the advisories, residential fire pits, and campground campfires are permitted, but it’s recommended to soak the area near the open pits with water.
Gas or propane stoves, wood pellet smokers, and burning barrels are also allowed.
During this time, residents and visitors are asked to use extra caution and remain vigilant.
The advisories will remain in effect until further notice. The counties will continue to monitor conditions and could impose a fire ban or restriction.

The Foothills County advisory does not apply to Okotoks or High River, and neither town currently has an advisory in place.
