With the snow gone and the grass slowly turning green, the thought of spring cleaning fills some people with joy... and others with dread.

We asked Country 107 listeners: What spring cleaning chore do you hate the most? Turns out, for many of you, the answer is all of it.

"Everything!! Bah..hum bug. Lol" wrote Joyce Giesbrecht, summing up what a lot of you seem to feel. Raymond Heidinger simply said, "All of it," while Wanda Woelke agreed, adding, "Yep, all of them."

Windows: the universal enemy

When it came to specific chores, window washing was the clear "winner" in the category of Most Hated Job. Christina Wolf, Curtis Doerksen, Kathy Dupuis, Josee Collet and Valerie Ross Rutledge all said window cleaning is the chore they dread most.

Maybe it’s the streaks that never quite go away, the awkward ladder balancing act, or the fact that it feels like as soon as you finish, it rains.

Yard surprises and forgotten leaves

Lisa Konowich said she hates cleaning the yard, especially when discovering the "hidden gifts" left behind after a long winter — we’ll let your imagination fill in the blanks. Ryden Pitura feels the same, especially after a winter’s worth of two dogs using the backyard as their personal washroom.

Gabby Belinda K pointed out another overlooked spring hazard: "Raking leaves that I left last fall, and now they are mashed down flat and twice as hard to rake." We feel your pain, Gabby.

Other 'fun' discoveries

Rox Dupuis mentioned tackling smelly hockey equipment, a sure sign that winter activities linger long after the snow disappears.

Meanwhile, Melissa Rumble said she just doesn't enjoy anything inside the house when it comes to spring cleaning.

On a more positive note, Joanne Jardine said she loves raking because "you can see the improvement in the lawn." That’s the spirit!

Solutions, practical and otherwise

So, what can you do to make spring cleaning less painful? Here are some ideas:

  • Hire it out: There’s no shame in paying someone else to wash your windows or clean up the yard. Think of it as supporting the local economy!

  • Make it a party: Invite friends over, blast some music, and reward everyone with pizza and cold drinks after.

  • Break it down: Instead of one overwhelming weekend, tackle one chore a day. (Windows on Monday, leaves on Tuesday, avoid the hockey equipment forever...)

  • Procrastinate strategically: Some things will magically take care of themselves. (Wind can blow away some leaves. A good rainstorm can help rinse windows. Right?)

  • Embrace imperfection: Remember, a few streaky windows or missed leaves aren't going to ruin your summer.

Whether you face spring cleaning with a grumble, a smile, or a vacuum cleaner in one hand and a mop in the other, just remember: you’re not alone. Your fellow Country 107 listeners are right there with you — fighting the good fight against dirt, dust and last year's leaves.
