Airdronian Blake Richards is excited to be back as Airdrie's Member of Parliament for the Airdrie-Cochrane riding.
As of last night, Richards was projected to win the local riding. He had 21,643 votes (72.4 percent), and 138 of the 210 polling stations reported.
Richards is thankful to have been elected to serve his riding again.
"It never stops being an honour to know that people have put their trust in you to be their representative, and it's not something I take lightly, and I'll continue to work with everything I have at that job."

Richards is looking towards the future and says he will be standing up for the communities he serves, the province and the country.
"We've got to end this disaster of a Liberal Government, and we'll continue to fight every day to make sure that happens."
He explained that whatever party you are with, you are always looking for a majority government, but with that not happening, he is still happy to see the growth the Conservative Party received in votes.
"We're the greatest country in the world, but we could be the most successful country in the world, too. We (the Conservative Party) believe we have a plan and vision to make that happen, and we've got a lot of recovery to do from the disastrous last decade under the Liberals. We're just looking forward to the opportunity for whenever that next election will be, to put that vision forward and make that change."
Richards has represented Airdrie and Cochrane since he was first elected in 2008. Most recently, Richards has served as the Conservative shadow minister for Veterans Affairs.
Last night, it was projected that the Liberal Party under Mark Carney would win the election with a minority government.
