Incumbent Kelly Block, running for the Conservative Party in Carlton Trail – Eagle Creek scored another decisive victory on Monday night garnering 77.6 percent of the vote in her riding as of Tuesday morning.
Block and her campaign workers, supporters and family gathered in Saskatoon at a watch event with her Saskatoon riding colleagues.
“I want to sincerely thank the people of Carlton Trail–Eagle Creek for once again giving me the honour of serving as their Member of Parliament,” Block stated in a release. “Throughout this campaign, my team and I traveled the riding — from Delisle to St. Brieux, from St. Louis to Edgemont, and everywhere in between — listening to voters who made it clear they were ready for change.
I’m proud to represent a riding where the values of faith, family, freedom, and hard work run deep — values that I share and will always stand up for.
As results continue to come in across the country, I am reminded that serving you is both a privilege and a responsibility that should never be taken for granted.”
In a phone conversation, Block noted that the federal outcome, with the Liberal Party returning to government, this time under newly elected Mark Carney, was not the result Conservative Party candidates were hoping for.
“Of course, these aren’t the results we were looking for nationally, but we have some things to reflect on,” Block affirmed. “I definitely look forward to heading back to Ottawa and being a strong voice for the people in Saskatchewan.”
That western voice is important, Block notes, given the diverging interests with other parts of Canada and given new pressures from the United States.
“It’s important that the people of Saskatchewan understand that Conservatives will never give up – that we will be returning to Ottawa to stand strong and fight every day so that the voices of those Canadians out here in the west will be heard.”
Gathered with her colleagues, the mood was buoyant with all Saskatoon ridings going Conservative. All expressed their gratitude for the support they’ve received as they return to their seats with renewed vigour.
