A Cochrane man is $100,000 richer after a birthday gift from his mother turned into a top prize winner.

Gregory Foley said he was in shock after scratching a $5 CROSSWORD BEE LUCKY Scratch & Win ticket and discovering he’d won the game’s $100,000 top prize.

"I scratched the ticket and saw the win," Foley said in a statement released by the Western Canada Lottery Corporation. "I was in shock! It still feels surreal!"

Foley received the ticket as an early birthday gift from his mother. She bought it at the Dovercourt Esso at 13410 118 Avenue in Edmonton.

He said he hasn’t made any plans yet for how he’ll spend the money. "Still trying to figure it out," he said during his prize claim interview. "It’s so surreal!"

The prize is one of several $100,000 top awards available in the CROSSWORD BEE LUCKY game.
