Multiple Airdrie schools are participating in Rocky View School's fourth annual Helping Hands Cleanup this week.
Every April since 2021, Rocky View Schools’ (RVS) has hosted the annual Helping Hands Cleanup as an observation of Earth Day (April 22).
The fifth annual Helping Hands Cleanup started yesterday and will run until Friday.
"During the cleanup, staff and students at most schools across the division will keep their school grounds beautiful by collecting garbage from their playground areas," stated RVS.
This year, a record-breaking 39 RVS schools are heading outdoors to help keep their school grounds looking beautiful. The Airdrie schools include:
- A.E. Bowers Elementary School
- Cooper’s Crossing School
- C.W. Perry School
- École Airdrie Middle School
- École Edwards Elementary School
- George McDougall High School
- Heloise Lorimer School
- Northcott Prairie School
- Nose Creek Elementary School
- Ralph McCall School
- W.H. Croxford High School
- Windsong Heights School
“Over the last five years, the Helping Hands Cleanup has become a significant event for many of our school communities. It’s great to see a record number of schools participating in this year’s cleanup,” said Superintendent of Schools Greg Luterbach. “This is an excellent way to get students outside, take ownership of their school’s grounds by collecting litter and embody the environmental stewardship that is represented by Earth Day."
Members of the RVS Operations team will provide food prizes to the classes that discover the largest, strangest, or most valuable object, as well as the ones that exhibit the strongest school spirit, to add excitement to the day.
