A production is rolling into Didsbury on Friday, but what’s filming remains a mystery.

The Town of Didsbury confirmed Wednesday that a crew will be shooting on May 2, with temporary road closures and parking restrictions in place throughout the day.

Maps posted alongside the notice show two filming zones. One is near the intersection of 18 Avenue and 20 Street, adjacent to Didsbury Value Drug Mart and Red Apple Store, where no parking will be in effect from Thursday, May 1 at 6 p.m. until Friday at 10 p.m.

The other is located near the rain tower and gas station on 20 Street, just south of 15 Avenue. One marked site is labeled “Scene 126,” and a lighting lift is scheduled to be placed nearby — both suggesting the tower may be included in the shoot.

The project is officially listed as “filming/prep activity,” with setup and takedown scheduled to occur on May 2, according to a traffic accommodation notice on the town’s website.

While the production remains unidentified, several film and television shoots are currently active in the Calgary region, according to ACTRA Alberta — the provincial branch of the Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists.

Ongoing projects include Billy the Kid – Season 3, Reminders of Him, In the Pines, and Dolly Trolley — a pair of holiday specials filming through mid-May. A new thriller titled Eyes In The Woods is also scheduled to begin filming later this month.

According to IMDb’s official location listings, Didsbury has served as the backdrop for a number of major productions. These include AMC’s The Last of Us, FX’s Under the Banner of Heaven, Fargo, The Order (2024) starring Jude Law and Nicholas Hoult, Let Him Go (2020) with Kevin Costner and Diane Lane, and Land (2021) with Robin Wright. Other projects listed as having filmed in town include Wynonna Earp (2016–2021), My Grandpa Detective (2016), Malvolio (2009), and the short films Breaking Chains and HE.R (2024).
