Approximately 100 kilometres north, a separate and confirmed film shoot is underway in Didsbury today.
The Town of Didsbury posted a traffic accommodation notice earlier this week indicating that setup, filming, and takedown would take place over the course of the day on Friday, May 2, with temporary road closures and parking restrictions in effect.
Maps included in the public notice identify two locations marked for use. One is near the intersection of 18 Avenue and 20 Street, where no parking is permitted from Thursday evening through 10 p.m. Friday. The second is near the rain tower on 20 Street, just south of 15 Avenue. One of the staging areas is labelled "Scene 126," with a lighting lift positioned nearby. While the significance of the label is unclear, both are situated close to the town’s rain tower.
The town’s official notice lists the activity only as "filming/prep," with no title, production company, or cast information provided.
As of this week, several productions remain active in the region, according to ACTRA Alberta. These include Billy the Kid – Season 3, In the Pines, the holiday-themed Dolly Trolley, and Reminders of Him. A new thriller titled Eyes In The Woods is also expected to begin filming in May.
According to publicly available location data and production records, Didsbury has served as a confirmed filming site for several major projects. These include AMC’s The Last of Us, FX’s Under the Banner of Heaven, Fargo, Let Him Go (2020) starring Kevin Costner and Diane Lane, and Land (2021) with Robin Wright. The town was also used in The Order (2024), starring Jude Law and Nicholas Hoult. Other projects listed on IMDb — and widely reported by local outlets — include Wynonna Earp, My Grandpa Detective, Malvolio, and the short films Breaking Chains and HE.R.
Bragg Creek has also been confirmed as a filming location for several recent productions. These include the Netflix series My Life with the Walter Boys (2023) and HBO’s The Last of Us (2023), both of which have been publicly confirmed to have filmed in or near the hamlet. According to user-submitted IMDb listings — which may not reflect official production records — additional titles linked to Bragg Creek include Marlene (2020), Tin Star (2017–2020), Open Range (2003), Storm (1987), and the cult horror film Ghostkeeper (1981).
