Cassidy Hockin, a Portage la Prairie-based professional, has become the only Canadian to win DataSnipper’s global MVP of the Year award. The accolade includes an invitation to the company’s Connect event in Amsterdam or New York, with Hockin planning to extend her trip to explore Europe.
Hockin credits her win to grassroots support, sharing nomination polls on social media and through local platform Portage Online. Clients and colleagues rallied to vote, securing her victory in the “Automation MVP” category against global contenders.
“I tried my best to get my name out there as much as I could,” Hockin says. “We had lots of clients coming in and saying they voted for me. I was super grateful everyone took the time.”
Transforming accounting workflows
The award recognizes Hockin’s use of DataSnipper, an AI-powered tool that streamlines auditing and data tracking. She emphasizes its critical role in her team’s daily work, calling it a “nifty” solution for reducing errors and simplifying complex tasks.
“If we didn’t have it now, we would lose our minds,” Hockin adds. “It just makes going back and looking at past information a lot easier. You don’t have to remember where all the numbers come from—it’s right there for you.”
Global connections, local gratitude
Hockin will join winners from Argentina and other countries at the Connect event, where networking and training sessions will deepen her expertise. While awaiting final travel details, she plans to turn the trip into a broader European adventure.
“Oh yeah, I haven’t really been anywhere,” Hockin notes. “If I do get to go to Amsterdam, I’d love to make a trip out of it. Once you get there, it’s so much cheaper to [travel], right? It’s just small countries compared to what we’re used to.”
The fifth annual awards drew submissions from DataSnipper users worldwide, including firms in Asia and Australia. Hockin, humbled by the recognition, reiterates appreciation for her nominator and voters. Tickets for her extended travels—and the tools she’ll use to manage work remotely—are already top of mind.
