A 33-year-old woman from Bonnyville is facing multiple charges after Airdrie RCMP seized a large quantity of suspected drugs during a traffic stop on Highway 2 early Saturday morning.
"On May 3, 2025, at approximately 3 a.m., an Airdrie RCMP officer conducted a traffic stop on a motorist on Highway 2," RCMP said in a news release. "During the stop, the officer made observations that the lone female driver may be in possession of a controlled substance."
The woman was detained for a drug investigation. A police sniffer dog from the Alberta Roving Traffic Unit was deployed and gave a positive indication, police said. She was then arrested and the vehicle was searched.
Officers located 504 grams of suspected cocaine and 14 grams of suspected methamphetamine. Heather Ashley Cote has been charged with:
-
Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
-
Possession of methamphetamine
-
Breach of release order
Cote was remanded into custody following a judicial interim release hearing. She is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Airdrie on May 9.
