Sunday was the annual Know Where to Turn Run in Airdrie, and it brought in much-needed funds.

The mission of the run is to support family violence services and supports in Airdrie and the surrounding areas.

Elizabeth Wyczynski, Community Relations Specialist at Community Links, explained it was a cold day, but well worth it.

"This was a huge year, record-breaking sponsorship levels, record-breaking participation. We had a total of 341 participants."

According to Wyczynski, last year's race day total was 262. While the amount raised has not been confirmed yet, she is certain it is also a record-breaking amount.

Several different runs took place:

  • 2K Family Run – Perfect for younger participants and families.
  • 5K Run – Andrea’s Run – Honouring Andrea Conroy, an Airdrie resident taken too soon from the community.
  • 10K Run and Half Marathon – For those looking to push their limits.

"The enthusiasm of the community was phenomenal. Of course, we were handed really interesting weather, but a lot of the runners said it was refreshing to run in that weather."

She wanted to thank everybody who made the event possible, and can't wait to see how it continues to grow.

"I hope that it becomes a sought-after event to participate in because the cause is so important."
