Mason Bueckert helped bolster the Kindersley Jr. Klippers roster this past season as a trade deadline acquisition, and now the 4-year SJHL player is moving on to the college level as the Klippers announced Bueckert's commitment to Red Deer Polytechnic of the ACAC (Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference).
The Kings hockey program welcomed Bueckert with a post to social media. They called the Saskatoon native a playmaker with grit, after Bueckert had 121 points in 146 career SJHL regular season games, scoring 12 points in 26 points with the Klippers after being acquired.
Bueckert came over in a trade with the La Ronge Ice Wolves, Kindersley sending Alex Mack and Dayton Tailfeathers back the other way. The trade proved to be fateful as the Klippers and Ice Wolves both battled for the league's eighth and final playoff spot, the race going down to the final day of the regular season as the Klippers were able to come out ahead by two points.
Bueckert isn't the only Klipper going to the post-secondary level next year. He joined hometown player and home captain Ethan Hilbig who committed to the University of Windsor, joining his brother Tylin Hilbig and another former Klipper captain Logan Linklater. That announcement came during the season, followed by Kyler Smith's commitment to Dalhousie University out east, and then goaltender Cody Jaman signing intent to play for the University of Augustana Vikings in Camrose.
