Ladies, mark your calendars for the perfect chance to try something new, get active, and connect with other amazing women in the community.

As part of their commitment to driving positive change by supporting innovation, promoting learning, and breaking barriers for a more inclusive and equitable future, the Weyburn Oilwomen (WOW) will be launching their third 'Lending Shed' on May 15th, this time a Pickleball Shed at the Credit Union Spark Centre.

One of the other lending sheds are for ice skates, with one located at the Spark Centre for use on the outdoor rink, and another at the Tom Zandee Sports Arena. The Sled Shed was their first lending shed, located in winter at River Park near Confederation Drive at Sixth Avenue.

The group's mission is to find opportunities to support the community, provide initiatives that make it easier for people to be involved in the community, and support initiatives or sponsorships that encourage access for everyone.

For this initiative, made possible thanks to funding support from Sask Lotteries through Southeast District’s 'Grow Your Community' Grant, WOW will be making pickleball more accessible for everyone by providing free paddles and balls for the public to borrow, both indoors and at the outdoor court.

In celebration of the new lending shed, WOW is hosting a Pickleball Kickoff Event on Thursday, May 15th from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Spark Centre.

The event is for women of all skill levels, from those who are new to the sport and even seasoned pros.

Andrea Wilson will facilitate a short dynamic stretching session, which will be followed by instruction on the basics of pickleball with coaching from Jacquie Williams and Deana Mainil.

"Come for the game, stay for the connection."

WOW members can attend the event for $15 and non-members for $20.
