The Saskatchewan Rush are leading their best-of-three semi-final series against the Halifax Thunderbirds 1-0.
They kicked off the series Saturday night in Halifax. Austin Shanks scored six goals to lead the Rush to a 16-7 win over the Thunderbirds. Rush broadcaster Cody Janzen says it was a dominant performance from the Rush.
“What Saskatchewan did to Halifax, in Halifax, is unheard of,” Janzen said. “That’s one of the best teams on home floor in the entire league.”
The Rush have the chance to close out the series and advance to the championship round with a win this weekend. Game two is Saturday, May 10 at SaskTel Centre; game three, if necessary, will be Sunday, May 11.
